Morning Devotional Thoughts – June 7, 2012

Streams in the Desert

Do you feel as if no one understands you, and your friends have pushed you aside? Take heart: your Maker “will come near to you” (James 4:8) and give you a song – a song of hope, which will be harmonious with the strong, resonant music of His providence. Be ready to sing the song your Maker imparts to you.

The strength of a ship is only fully demonstrated when it faces a hurricane, and the power of the Gospel can only be fully exhibited when a Christian is subjected to some fiery trial. We must understand that for God to give “songs in the night,” He must first make it night.Nathaniel William Taylor

One Day at a Time – Day 42 – The Goal of Grieving: Rebuilding and Resolution

If you work through the process of grief, you will come to the point of rebuilding and resolution. Then your focus will shift from the past to the future.

With God, there is always hope. There is always rebuilding and resolution. He will restore your life, and you will have joy in your heart again. God’s promises are for you.

He sent His Son Jesus . . .

“To comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion—to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor” (Isaiah 61:2-3).
