STORY . . .
So I took yesterday off for a mental health day/back-to-school shopping day with my boy. Hence Five Minute Saturday. 🙂
I think it’s only fitting that I am listening to Brandon Heath as I sat down to this post and my quiet time this morning. It’s full of stories about life and faith and it seems like every. single. song. speaks to me.
My story is being written every single day. And re-written. Over and over and over. Every new day is a chance for a new chapter. I’m so thankful that my God can do that. He can take the tatters and scraps and ashes of my story to this point and remake, rework, rewrite them into a brand new story.
New pages. New words. New ending. New story. New life.
The story of my life to this point has made me who I am. But it doesn’t have to define me unless I allow it to. I want God to define me, not my past.
As a kid, I LOVED the “choose-your-own-ending” books, but I don’t want that for my life. I’ve been there. I’ve done that. And it’s a daily struggle to not try to pick up the pen and try to make my story happen the way I want it to. But I can’t cheat by flipping ahead in the book to see how my choice is going to pan out. I’m constantly struggling between running forward toward what I want and trying to be patient and wait on God’s timing. And the struggle is uncomfortable. So is the surrender. But my way hasn’t worked out so well thus far. So I choose to hand my pen and to the Author and Perfecter and wait and see what He does.
I have faith that the Word knows how to write my story so much better than I ever could. – click to tweet
I’m so grateful that He’s not finished with me yet.

“Wait And See”
Late July humidity
Doctor said I was lucky to be alive
Trouble till the day that I disappear
That’ll be the day that I finally get it right
Because God won’t forget
All the plans he’s made for me
I have to wait and see
He’s not finished with me yet
I talked too much, broke the rules
Teacher thought I was hopeless fool alrightI don’t know how but I made it through
It’s one of those things that you’ve gotta do
But I always had a knack for telling the truth
Chorus
Still wondering why I’m here
Still wrestling with my fear
But oh, He’s up to something
And the farther on I go
I’ve seen enough to know
That I’m, not here for nothing
He’s up to something
So now’s my time to be a man
Follow my heart as far as I can
No telling where I’m ending up tonight
I never slow down or so it seems
But singing my heart it’s one of my dreams
All I gotta do is hold on tight
Wanna play? Here’s how:
1. Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking.
2. Link back here and invite others to join in.
3. And then absolutely, no ifs, ands or buts about it, you need to visit the person who linked up before you & encourage them in their comments.

I used to love those “choose-your-own-ending” books, too! Daily handing my pen over, right along with you.
So hard to do. Sometimes I wish He’d just take it out of my hand. Haha. Thanks for stopping by!
Loved the idea of giving over authorship to God. Enjoyed your post!
